Anticipating the Vibrant and Colorful Days of Fall

A recent trip to a fabric show in Philadelphia was so inspiring and motivating to me. There's nothing quite like touching and feeling the rich nubby textures and seeing the vivid colors playing against each other. As I think about the new Fall Collection of kimonos we are about to debut in person, I smile just thinking of the gorgeous combinations of fabrics, colors and textures. Each piece a one-of-a-kind work of art.

We will be announcing some debut events soon, but in the meantime, please take a look at our Fall Collection pieces that are already on our website. If you see something you like, be sure to order it so you can try it on. Shipping and returns are free, so go ahead and order one or two of your favorites, so you can see how they make you look and feel. Since they each are a one-of-a-kind piece, you won't want to miss out on owning the one that you love.

We have also been working on three new designs for Spring 2022, and selecting the fabrics for that collection. There are a lot of good things coming your way!

Did you know that each one of our kimonos is named for a woman who has inspired or influenced us in some way? We wrote a little story about each of them that helps bring the unique personality of each kimono to life. Because each kimono features repurposed fabrics, there are layers of stories pieced together on each garment.

They each have a story of their own to tell that's almost as fascinating as your own. Some of the names are fictional -- and even some of their stories are compilations, but we think you'll recognize some of our cast of characters. Just click on any kimono in our online catalog to go to the story behind the piece. Which ones are your favorites?

The Four Pillars of the J.Mullin Apparel Co. Brand

When we started our company, I gave a lot of thought to what the J.Mullin Apparel Co. brand was to be all about. It was not a simple task. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I needed to think about it some more. I had been sewing and creating apparel for quite some time, but the kimonos were a new endeavor, and I wanted to do it in a more professional way.

My husband, Bill, and I decided to hire a team of branding professionals to guide us through the process, which really helped us get to the core essence of our brand. With their help, we determined what we have to offer that is unique in the marketplace, who we want to serve specifically, and how we wanted to do it. Over a period of a few weeks, we zeroed in on four pillars or key values that are the foundation of everything we do, and we thought we’d share them with you:

We believe in living a life by your own design. We serve the woman who creates a life she loves, and does not hesitate to invest in herself. We call it the "Curated Lifestyle."

We believe in pursuing comfortable elegance. Our customer prefers apparel that is easy to wear while adding a new level of sophistication to her personal style. We call it "Elevated Ease."

We believe in reinvention and renewal. We incorporate carefully chosen repurposed fabrics into each of our garments, giving them a new story to tell. We call it "Sustainable Sophistication."

We believe in transformation and empowerment. Our garments transform a woman's personal style in a way that brings out her own unique story, empowering her to be more of who she is so she can be a powerful force for good. We call it, "One-of-a-Kind Woman."

We invite you to be a part of this journey! We will be asking for input on some new designs we are working on, and will be having a Launching Event this Fall.

In the meantime, use the form at the bottom of this page to be sure you are on the list to get our updates and announcements.

We look forward to seeing and hearing from you!

HOW TO SIMPLIFY AND UPDATE YOUR WARDROBE TO REFLECT YOUR EVOLVING TASTES AND LIFESTYLE.

Living a curated life is simply about surrounding yourself with carefully chosen treasures — the environments, the people, the experiences and the things that inspire you and define you.

Whether we realize it or not, we all have a personal playbook for how we express our personal style. It shows up in our homes and gardens, in our collections of art, music, books, clothing and accessories.

Our personal style is a reflection of what we believe about ourselves, and what we love, who our friends are, and what we choose to do for work and for fun, where we like to travel, and all of the places we’ve lived and people we’ve known. It’s one big eclectic collection of all of the bits of what makes up a life.

What do you see when you walk into your home? How does it make you feel? What do you see when you open your closet? Do you like what you see, or is it a source of frustration and a bit discouraging? This is where we all need some help. The changes in our lifestyle and our tastes, and even our size, can make most of our wardrobe obsolete. It’s a constant struggle to have enough wearable options to put some nice outfits together.

I don’t know about you, but my idea of living my best life and doing the things I love does not include wasting my time having frustrating shopping experiences. I’ve discovered that you don’t have to go through that humiliating experience. The key is building looks around a statement piece jacket or kimono. You would be amazed at the range of looks you can come up with if you have the right basics. You'll never have to worry about what to wear again.
